John Burns

John Burns is an experienced infrastructure project delivery professional currently serving as a Senior Project Delivery Advisor for the U.S. Department of Transportation since March 2024. Previously, John was involved in a rotational assignment with the FHWA Major Project Team, where significant contributions included the development of a new Major Projects Involvement Process aimed at enhancing stewardship and oversight of high-risk major highway and bridge projects. From September 2018 to March 2024, John acted as the Specially Designated Project Oversight Manager for the Brooklyn Queens Expressway Triple Cantilever project, facilitating collaboration among various governmental agencies. Additionally, John held a similar role overseeing the New NY Bridge project, valued at $3.9 billion, from December 2013 to March 2024. John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, earned between 1992 and 1996.
