Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer at Travel Alberta

Tannis Gaffney has a diverse work experience that spans over two decades. Tannis started their career as a Business English Teacher at Geos Communications International in 2000 and later became an Account Manager at Parallel Strategies, where they managed strategic and creative development for clients such as Tourism Yukon and Alberta Ballet. Tannis then worked as an Account Supervisor at MacLaren McCann, overseeing branding, advertising, and communication campaigns for clients including GMC Goodwrench and Enbridge.

In 2004, Tannis joined the Calgary Stampede as a Marketing Manager, where they developed consumer-based marketing strategies and achieved sales goals. Tannis later transitioned to the role of Sponsor Account Manager, where they negotiated and solicited multi-year sponsorship contracts, creating cross-promotion opportunities and securing national media exposure.

Tannis then moved on to Long View Systems in 2013, serving as the Director of Marketing and Communications. In this role, they developed and executed a B2B marketing strategy across North America and reported directly to the CEO. Tannis was responsible for six office locations and led the company's paid, owned, and earned marketing efforts.

From 2016 to 2017, Tannis worked as the Vice President of Marketing at Graycon I.T., a division of Ricoh Canada Inc. Tannis was responsible for marketing strategies and initiatives.

Most recently, Tannis joined Travel Alberta in 2017 as the Vice President of Destination Promotion. Tannis was later promoted to the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer in February 2022, overseeing the organization's marketing efforts.

Throughout their career, Tannis has demonstrated a strong focus on marketing and communications, strategic planning, and achieving sales goals. Tannis has experience working with diverse clients and organizations in various industries.

Tannis Gaffney completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies from the University of Calgary between 1992 and 1997. In 2008, they attended The Banff Centre to study Leading Strategically, although the degree name is not specified. From 2002 to 2004, they pursued the Canadian Advertising Accredited Professional (CAAP) degree at the Canadian Institute of Communications. Additionally, in 1995 and 1996, they obtained a French Diploma in the International French Language Program at the Institut Francais des Alpes (IFALPES).
