Andrew Kirkham

Andrew Kirkham has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Andrew currently holds the position of Engineering Manager at TravelNest since July 2022. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at TravelNest from December 2020 to July 2022. Before joining TravelNest, Andrew served as a Software Development Engineer at the same company from April 2018 to December 2020.

Before their tenure at TravelNest, Andrew worked at Sopra Steria as a Software Engineer. Their responsibilities included being the lead front-end developer for a project for NHS National Services Scotland, overseeing the design and development of an Oracle web application. Andrew also set front-end development standards, conducted code reviews, and maintained the git repository for the project. Andrew started as a Junior Software Engineer at Sopra Steria and was trained in Java, agile software development, and Oracle database technologies. Andrew worked on an internal project and a government project involving Oracle APEX. Andrew also developed a web application for NHS dental services, which included client visits and presentations.

Prior to Sopra Steria, Andrew worked at Edinburgh University Students' Association where they held various roles. Andrew served as a Stock Team Leader during the Fringe festival, ensuring venues were fully stocked and managing deliveries and a team of two members. Andrew also worked as a Security Team Member responsible for venue safety and as a House Team Leader leading a team of up to six people to run and maintain events during the Fringe festival.

Andrew's work experience also includes volunteering as a Volunteer at Tough Mudder Inc, where they helped set up and run events and ensured participant safety and a smooth event experience. Andrew also worked as a Steward at SLS Security, assisting with crowd management and public safety.

Lastly, Andrew had the opportunity to visit the Royal Marines Commando Training Centre as a Potential Officer Visitor, where they trained with the Marines to gain insight into their life and underwent physical and mental challenges to develop leadership and team-working skills.

Andrew Kirkham attended Lancaster Royal Grammar School from 2002 to 2009, where they obtained a high school degree. Andrew subsequently enrolled in The University of Edinburgh from 2010 to 2015, where they earned a Master's degree in Astrophysics. Andrew has no additional certifications in First Aid.
