From 1997 to 2002, Vickie worked as a Unix/Linux Systems Administrator at Amazon.

In 2002, they became a Volunteer Firefighter/EMT at Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, where they served until 2007. During this time, Vickie obtained certifications as a firefighter, engineer, and EMT-Intermediate, and actively participated in community events.

In 2003, Vickie started working at the Idaho Department of Lands as a Fire Training & Prevention Coordinator. Vickie served as the training coordinator for wildland firefighters in Idaho and also educated the public on wildland fire prevention and mitigation strategies.

In 2007, Vickie joined Verint Next IT as a Software Development Engineer in Test. Vickie was responsible for testing web-based and enterprise applications using both waterfall and Agile processes. Vickie also wrote automated tests and validated new features, fixed bugs, and performed regression, security, performance, and load tests. In 2018, they transitioned to the role of Senior QA Engineer, where they had even more autonomy and expertise in software testing. In 2019, they became a Senior Product Manager, focusing on aligning business needs with user goals and prioritizing work. Vickie also facilitated communication between stakeholders and ensured the engineering team's needs were understood.

Vickie has also pursued their passion for Jiu-Jitsu. From 2013 to 2019, they worked as an Assistant Instructor at Newborn Cascao Jiu Jitsu, teaching fundamental classes and participating in regional and international tournaments.

Most recently, Vickie joined Treasury4 in 2023 as a Software Engineer.
