Martin Herold

Associate Director, Medicinal Chemistry at Treeline Biosciences

Martin Herold has a diverse work experience in the field of medicinal chemistry. Martin is currently working at Treeline Biosciences as an Associate Director in Medicinal Chemistry. Prior to this, they worked at AbbVie for a significant amount of time, holding various roles including Principal Research Scientist, Senior Scientist II, and Senior Scientist I. At AbbVie, they were responsible for driving the early Immunology discovery pipeline, conducting target identification, design and synthesis, and project leadership. Martin also supported small molecule and ADC projects as a medicinal chemist. Additionally, Martin has worked at Abbott as a Senior Scientist I and at Cubist Pharmaceuticals as a Scientist, focusing on process chemistry and the development of antibiotics. Martin began their career as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where they contributed to the development of small molecule chemical probes. Martin also gained research experience as a Graduate Student at the University of Virginia, specializing in natural products, total synthesis, and methodology. Prior to their scientific career, Martin served in a civil service role in Kfar Rafael, Beer-Sheva, Israel, where they worked in a community of mentally handicapped adults.

Martin Herold completed their Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the Technical University of Munich from 2001 to 2004. Martin then pursued a PhD in Organic Chemistry at the University of Virginia from 2004 to 2008.
