Steve Micklewright

Chief Executive Officer at Trees for Life

Steve Micklewright has a strong background in conservation and environmental work. Steve served as the Chief Executive Officer for Trees for Life, where they led the charity's strategic direction and restoration of the Caledonian Forest. Prior to that, they were the Executive Director for BirdLife Malta, where they held the role for three years. Steve also worked as the Director of Community Programmes for Avon Wildlife Trust for four years. Steve Micklewright has also contributed to the World Wide Fund for Nature, serving as the Head of Policy and Planning and later as the Head of English Regions. Steve began their career with the Council for the Protection of Rural England as the Assistant Secretary for Countryside and Forestry.

Steve Micklewright attended the University of Bristol from 1980 to 1985, where they pursued a degree in Botany. Steve then went on to study at UCL from 1985 to 1986, earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Nature Conservation and Ecology.
