Emily Shinzato has a diverse work experience beginning in 2010 with the Instituto Florestal, where they held the role of Forest Hydrology Intern. In 2011, they were a Co-Founder of Ecoflorestal Jr. - Empresa de Consultoria Florestal and a Greenhouse Nursery Operations Intern at Árvores Brasileiras. In 2012, Emily was a Research & Development Intern at International Paper. In 2014, they were a MSc Visiting International Research Student at The University of British Columbia - Forestry Centre. In 2015, they held the roles of Forestry Consultant at Autonomous and Geoprocessing Analyst at Amata S.A. Finally, starting in 2016, Emily has been a Co-founder of Treevia - Forest Technologies, where they have held the roles of Co-founder & Partner, Co-founder | Head of People and Performance, and Co-founder | COO.

Emily Shinzato has a diverse educational background. In 2013, they earned their M.D. in Remote Sensing from the National Institute for Space Research. From 2008 to 2012, they earned their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Forest Engineering from UFSCar - Alumni. Prior to that, they completed their High School studies at Colégio ETAPA from 2005 to 2007.
