Emily Corie

Language Arts Teacher at Trellus

Emily Corie is an experienced educator with a focus on language arts and gifted education. Currently serving as a Middle School Language Arts teacher at Passages Elementary School since August 2021, Emily has also held various roles at Asian Human Services, Inc. since August 2011, including Language Arts Teacher and Enrichment Coordinator. Prior experience includes positions as a 4th Grade Instructional Assistant at American Quality Schools and a 4th Grade Self-Contained Gifted Teacher within the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Emily holds a Master of Education in Gifted Education from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, also from Louisiana State University, along with additional studies in Politics at Swansea University.

Trellus is a nonprofit that exists to empower immigrants, refugees, and underserved communities in Chicago to thrive by removing barriers and providing supports that create opportunities for life. Headquartered in West Ridge—one of Chicago’s major refugee settlement neighborhoods—we serve individuals and families representing more than 50 nations and ethnicities. Our culturally responsive, comprehensive services include trauma-informed behavioral health counseling, case management, health education, ESL and technology classes, career training and job placement, and other supportive services. We also operate Passages Charter School, a pre-K to 8 charter school in the Andersonville neighborhood keenly focused on the needs and experience of refugee families.
