J. Agustin Cruz

Scientist II at TRex Bio

J. Agustin Cruz has a wealth of work experience in the scientific field. In 2008, they completed their thesis research at Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso, where they investigated the protein-protein interaction of the Transporter of Dopamine with other proteins of the synaptic vesicle using an in vivo model. From 2009 to 2012, they worked as a Health Science Research Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh, where they contributed to research on the physiological role of protein-protein interactions in Heart Failure, hematopoiesis, and migraines. Theirwork was published in two articles, one as the first author and the other as a contributing author. From 2012 to 2018, they worked as a Graduate Student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where they performed independent research to investigate the signaling of the IL-17 receptor. From 2018 to 2021, they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Pittsburgh, where they were one of the ten 2020 fellows of the American Association of Immunologist for the intersects fellowship. J. Agustin adapted a mathematical model to explain cell-to-cell interactions that happen between hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells and developed a new cell line and implemented a sophisticated imaging pipeline to extract fundamental regulatory features of intracellular signaling. In 2021, they began working as a Scientist I at Adaptive Biotechnologies Corp., where they successfully learned and executed complex Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) assays to discover epitope-specific TCRs, along with sharpening their flow cytometry and tissue culture skills. J. Agustin also helped to recruit several FTEs and is currently starting and leading a small team. J. Agustin will begin working as a Scientist II at TRexBio in 2022.

J. Agustin Cruz completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Immunology from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine between 2012 and 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Bachellor in Science in Biochemistry from Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaiso between 2003 and 2009.
