Senior Vice President at Tri Global Energy

Mike Kelly’s career at Tri Global Energy began in April 2012. As Senior Vice President, Mike’s responsibilities have spanned project origination and development, initiating and securing strategic partnerships, joint ventures and other similar relationships, power marketing, development team management, securing investor relationships and supporting capital raise efforts and other roles central to establishing Tri Global Energy as one of the preeminent renewable energy development firms in the country.

Mike has over 20 years of energy industry experience, including 17 years in renewables, beginning in 2000 with his power marketing role at Enron Corporation. While there, Mike executed mid-market power transactions including physical fixed price, index, and option structures. Following the Enron bankruptcy, Mike transitioned to a broader origination role at TXU Portfolio Management, coordinating business development activities supporting the firm’s regional market penetration goals through consultative sales, trading, and origination opportunities.

Mike’s 17 years in the renewable energy industry have encompassed responsibilities including power marketing, project development, wind turbine sales, and senior management. In 2004, Mike initiated his renewables experience with a Vice President of Business Development role with a private start-up wind development company based in Texas. In this position Mike originated, structured, and negotiated a long-term power off-take contract supporting the firm’s initial $180 MM wind farm. From there, Mike moved into a regional project development role with Outland Renewable Energy, a Minnesota-based wind developer.

Mike’s diverse start-up and Fortune 500 background also includes an executive management role as President of a private aviation start-up firm and additional operations and sales and marketing roles in the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Mike has a BS in economics from the University of Tennessee and an MBA from the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia.
