Marisa McGrody has had a diverse range of work experiences in the field of photography. Marisa started their career as a professional photographer at Marisa Erin Photography in 2009. In 2010, they also worked as a photographer and head photographer for both the Tribeca Film Festival NYC, LLC and Kidville. Marisa continued to expand their portfolio by working as a school photographer for Tribeca Community School in the same year. In 2014, they joined Lesbians Who Tech + Allies, in the role of photographer and later became the head photographer. Marisa also worked as a photographer for King of Harts from 2014 to 2016. Marisa had freelance photographer roles at the Sundance Institute in 2016 and Laundry Service in 2015.

Marisa McGrody attended Wellesly High School from 1994 to 1998. Marisa then pursued further education at Providence College from 1999 to 2002, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Theater.
