Mike Hockenberry has a diverse work experience in various industries. In 1995, they started their career as a Business Research Analyst at Hallmark Cards, where they developed marketing strategies and product development. Mike then moved on to become a Marketing Strategist, overseeing brand management and product development for Ambassador brand, and later developed a new brand called "Warm Wishes". After that, they served as an Associate Marketing Manager, managing a seasonal marketing program and acting as a liaison between independent owners of specialty stores and corporate headquarters. Mike also held the position of Manager, CRM, where they focused on developing marketing and consumer targeting strategies for the Gold Crown Card loyalty program.
In 2002, Mike joined Target as a Group Manager, CRM & Direct Marketing, where they built a team and capabilities to leverage CRM and database marketing. Mike developed revenue-driving marketing programs and established a center of excellence for guest analytics and reporting. Mike then became a Buyer for Baby products and later transitioned to become a Senior Buyer for Beauty, where they managed a $1.5 billion business unit and transformed the guest experience in the Beauty department.
Moving forward, Mike became the Director of Merchandise Planning for Grocery, leading a team responsible for forecasting and order management for a $5 billion food business. Mike implemented a new food distribution network and expanded the food section in stores. Mike was subsequently promoted to Vice President, Merchandise Planning Operations, overseeing an international team and $10 billion in inventory. Mike developed and implemented inventory management practices, processes, and systems.
In 2012, Mike took on the role of Vice President, Merchandise Manager, focusing on household cleaning, paper products, and baby businesses. Mike managed the P&L for a $6.5 billion revenue stream and was responsible for planning, forecasting, vendor management, category management, pricing, and promotion. Mike also spearheaded the development and implementation of Target's Health & Wellness growth strategy, pioneering the "Made to Matter" retailer-supplier partnership.
Continuing their career, Mike worked as the CEO of Scivation, Inc., where they built a professional management team and focused on developing performance supplements backed by real science and research. Mike led the company's flagship product, Xtend BCAAs, to become the leader in the intra-workout segment.
In more recent years, Mike held positions as a Board Advisor for Carpe, a Partner at Disruptive Enterprises, LLC, a Director at Tribucha, and a Board Member on the Advisory Board at Zesty Paws.
