Jenny Chen, also known as Jen, has a diverse work experience in the field of research. Jenny (Jen) started their career as a Staff Research Associate at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in 2017. In 2018, they volunteered full-time at the Roybal Lab at the University of California, San Francisco, where they gained experience in novel immunology techniques such as Flow Cytometry and sorting, barcode cloning, Lentivirus packaging/cell transduction, and human cell culture.
In 2019, Jen continued their research journey at the University of California, San Francisco, as a Research Volunteer and later as a Staff Research Associate II in Oren Rosenberg's lab. In this role, they worked independently as well as with post-doctorate Kate Kim. Jenny (Jen) focused on solving the structure of protein complexes in the model organism Mycobacterium smegmatis by engineering endogenously tagged strains. Jen successfully tagged 10 important antibiotic targets and progressed two of them, PKS13 and EfpA, to structural studies. Additionally, they received training in structural biology cloning techniques and protein purification.
Most recently, in 2022, Jen joined Triplebar as a Research Associate II.
Jenny (Jen) Chen completed their education with a Bachelor's degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Berkeley, where they studied from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, they obtained an Honors High School Diploma from West High School, where they studied from 2011 to 2015. The field of study during their high school years is not specified.
