Shawn Manchester

Shawn Manchester has a diverse work experience with roles in various companies and organizations. Shawn currently holds the position of COO at Triplebar since March 2023, where they previously served as the Head of Product from November 2021 to March 2023. Prior to Triplebar, Shawn worked as a Consultant at The Production Board from September 2021 to November 2021. Shawn also had a significant tenure at Zymergen, Inc. starting in May 2014. At Zymergen, they held multiple roles, including Product Director, Electronics from January 2019 to September 2021, Associate Director from July 2017 to January 2019, and Scientist from May 2014 to June 2017. Before joining Zymergen, Shawn worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the Prather Lab from July 2013 to May 2014, focusing on various research projects related to strain engineering and biofuels pathways. Shawn also pursued their PhD at MIT from 2008 to 2013 as a PhD Candidate, where they conducted research on DNA damaging proteins and mutation rates. Additionally, they served as an iGEM instructor during their time at MIT from 2009 to 2010. Shawn's career started as a Student Researcher at Brown University from 2006 to 2007, where they worked on projects related to mercury capture and sorbent characterization. Overall, Shawn has gained extensive experience in product development, consulting, scientific research, and academia throughout their career.

Shawn Manchester pursued their education in the field of Chemical Engineering. From 2003 to 2007, they attended Brown University and obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree. Following this, Shawn enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2008 to 2013 to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemical Engineering.
