Guihua Lu

Director, Biology at Triton Algae Innovations

Dr. Guihua Lu is the Director of Strain Biology at Triton Algae Innovations, with the responsibility of discovering novel algae strains for food applications through non-GMO and GMO technologies. Guihua began his career at DuPont subsidiary, Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., in 1996 as a research manager, and served research and technical leadership roles in oil seeds biotechnology. He transferred to DuPont China holding in 2007 and was pointed to the vice president position of DuPont-Pioneer-BWK’s Joint venture KTDNA in Beijing, China. He led a research team that integrated advanced genomic and CRISPR technologies and discovered numerous agronomic trait genes from 2007 to 2019 in rice. Guihua Joined Triton in 2019. He graduated from Lanzhou University with a B.S. in biology, Guihua earned his M.S. and Ph. D in plant physiology and biochemistry from Lanzhou University of China. He has published more than 40 papers and book chapters and authored over 20 granted patents. Guihua served on the manuscript reviewing panels of Plant Molecular Biology, The Plant Cell, Plant Disease, and Plant Cell Reports etc.
