Software Engineer at Tropic

Martin Echtner has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Martin is currently working as a Software Engineer at Tropic since 2022. Prior to this, Martin worked at Lingo Live from 2021 to 2022 as a Software Engineer, where they maintained and improved a legacy Ruby on Rails app and created a new app supporting the company's new direction.

From 2020 to 2021, Martin was a Co-Founder at Startup Junction, where they built a web application in Ruby on Rails 6. Martin also worked as a Software Engineer at CapGuru from 2017 to 2020, where they helped stabilize the product and implemented various improvements.

Before that, Martin worked at Pixeltree Inc from 2015 to 2018 as a Software Engineer, helping the business grow its revenue and delivering high-quality solutions to clients. Martin also has experience in the carpentry industry, having worked as a Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter at EllisDon from 2012 to 2014, and as an Apprentice Carpenter at Stuart Olson Dominion and Triangle Enterprises from 2011 to 2012 and 2008 to 2011, respectively.

Additionally, Martin worked as a Contract Software Engineer at FilmRiot from 2007 to 2008, developing a crowdfunding-based site, and as a Software Engineer at Expert Decisions Inc from 2005 to 2007.

Martin Echtner obtained their Red Seal Journeyman Carpenter degree from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) from 2009 to 2013. Prior to that, from 2004 to 2006, they pursued a BAT degree in Software Engineering from the same institution. Before attending SAIT, Martin studied Computer Information Systems at Saskatchewan Polytechnic from 2000 to 2002, earning a diploma in that field.
