Derek started their career as a management trainee at halls of broxburn and then worked as a graduate trainee at devro (scotland) limited.

Derek Thomson obtained their bachelor of engineering from the University of Edinburgh School of Philosophy, Psychology and Language Sciences. Derek also holds a bachelor's degree from the same school.
