Michael Hamrick has a diverse background in Geographic Information System (GIS) roles. Michael started their career as an intern at the Town of Farragut, where they collected outfall location field data and helped develop the town's GIS system. In 2006, they joined Knox County as a GIS Database Administrator, responsible for administrating the Cityworks Server Asset Management System, providing key GIS services, and maintaining spatial data for the Department of Engineering and Public Works. In 2014, they became the GIS Manager at Morristown-Hamblen GIS Group, where they introduced and grew combined GIS efforts between various agencies, focusing on maintaining authoritative data and providing user-friendly applications. Since 2017, they have been working as an Infrastructure Solutions Engineer at True North Geographic Technologies.
Michael Hamrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, with a concentration in Wildland Recreation, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 2006. In 2013, they obtained a certification in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from the GIS Certification Institute (GISCI). Michael also holds a certification as an ACA Whitewater Kayak Instructor from the American Canoe Association, although the date of obtaining this certification is not specified.
