Steve Carlson

Steve Carlson has a diverse work experience in the financial industry. Steve is currently the President of TrueML, a position they started in 2022. Throughout their career, they have held various advisory and board positions in companies such as Flow Networks, Cota Capital, and Level Money. From 2017 to 2021, they worked as the Executive Chair and CEO at BriteCap Financial, leading the turnaround and digital transformation of the direct lending business. Steve also served as a strategic consultant, providing consultancy to fintech firms and private equity funds. Additionally, Steve co-founded and served as CEO of Ascend Consumer Finance, a venture-backed digital lender, and was a member of the Consumer Advisory Board at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Prior to these roles, they were an investor at Variance Development Partners. Overall, Steve Carlson has extensive experience in leadership, strategic consulting, and fostering growth in the fintech industry.

Steve Carlson has an MBA in Marketing and Finance from the Northwestern University - Kellogg School of Management. Steve also holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Prior to their university education, Steve attended Naperville Central High School.
