Matthew Shapiro is the Vice President – Director of Development at TruFund Financial Services. Matthew has over fifteen years of experience in the non-profit sector, specializing in fundraising and development.
Shapiro began their career as an Associate Vice President at United Way of New York City, where they spent four years working to increase funding for the organization. Matthew then transitioned to Points of Light - generationOn, where they served as Vice President, Development for two years. In this role, they oversaw a team of fundraisers and helped to expand the organization's donor base.
In 2012, Shapiro joined the New York Restoration Project as Vice President of Development Partnerships. During their five-year tenure with the organization, they successfully secured funding from major donors, including the Dalio Foundation, JPB Foundation, Sorenson Foundation, and Amazon. Matthew also helped to establish new corporate partnerships with companies such as Coca-Cola, Capital One, and Fidelity Charitable.
Most recently, Shapiro has been with Accion since 2017, serving as Vice President, Development and Impact. In this role, they have raised over $13 million for the organization and introduced a formal prospect research and cultivation system. Matthew has also expanded Accion's volunteer and giving programs and developed new partnerships with community organizations.
