Director, Design + Construction at Trust for Governors Island

Nicole De Feo's work experience includes a variety of roles in the fields of architecture, design, and construction. Nicole is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Pratt Institute School of Architecture. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Design + Construction at the Trust for Governors Island and as a Senior Project Manager in the same organization. Nicole has also worked as an Adjunct Faculty member at Parsons School of Design, where they taught courses on sustainable systems and participated in design-build projects. Nicole has been involved in several community organizations, serving on the steering committee of the Java Street Community Garden, as Chair and Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for North Brooklyn Neighbors, and as a member of the NYC Community Garden Coalition. Nicole has also worked as a Planning, Design + Construction Project Manager at the New York Botanical Garden and as a Senior Project Manager in Planning + Design at Friends of the High Line. Nicole started their career as an Architectural Designer at Aman Architecture and as a Sustainability Strategist at The Gaia Technologies.

Nicole De Feo, Assoc. AIA, LEED AP, GRP, has acquired a solid educational background in the field of architecture and environmental analysis. Nicole completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Analysis and Policy, as well as Art History, from Boston University, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. In 2003, Nicole attended The School for Field Studies, focusing on Wildlife and Wildlands Science and Management.

Nicole later pursued their passion for architecture by enrolling in the Architecture Summer Intensive program at Parsons School of Design - The New School in 2005. Nicole then continued their education at the same institution and graduated with a Master of Architecture degree in 2012.

In addition to their academic achievements, Nicole has obtained two notable certifications. In 2009, they became a LEED AP (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional) from the Green Building Research Institute. Nicole also received the Green Roof Professional certification from Green Roofs for Healthy Cities in August 2014.
