Orrett Sommerville

Orrett Sommerville has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Orrett started their career in the United States Air Force, where they served as a Network Communications Engineer and Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning Technician. Orrett then moved on to WorldCom, where they held various roles such as Manager of Financial Services Operations, Project Engineer, Staff Engineer, and Help Desk Engineer. At WorldCom, they successfully re-engineered staffing and tasking to optimize efficiency. Orrett then joined Verizon Business Managed Services, where they served as the Manager of Complex Managed Services and Network Operations, leading a team of Tier II/III network support engineers. Orrett also played a crucial role in planning large-scale projects and establishing an advanced support unit. Following this, they worked at Verizon as the Associate Director of Security, Network, and Voice Operations. In this role, they managed multiple security operation centers supporting Fortune 500 companies' security, voice, and network infrastructures. Orrett supervised a team of 121 IT professionals and delivered business process improvement and re-engineering support to managed customers. Most recently, Orrett joined SecureWorks as the Operations Director, further enhancing their expertise in managing and overseeing operations within the cybersecurity industry. Presently, they hold the position of Vice President of Security Technology Management at Trustwave.

Orrett Sommerville completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer and Information Sciences and Support Services at the University of Maryland Global Campus. Orrett later pursued an MBA in Business Administration from the same institution. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Tableau Data Analytics Certificate from Emory Continuing Education in 2021, and has completed courses in Business Process Design for Strategic Management from MIT Sloan School of Management, People Analytics, Operations Analytics, and Customer Analytics from Coursera Course Certificates in 2016.
