Colin Shevlin has been working in the tech industry for over 10 years. In 2011, they began their career as an English Teaching Assistant for the Fulbright Commission in Spain. After this, they worked as a Bilingual Teacher in Chicago Public Schools from 2012-2014. In 2014, they moved on to Gradeable as a Full Stack Engineer. 🖖🏻 Colin then joined Classkick in 2015 as a Full Stack Engineer and held various roles, including Staff Software Engineer, Engineering Manager, Interim Head of Engineering, and Senior Software Engineer. In 2018, they became the Lead Engineer at Holberg Financial, now known as Spring. Currently, they are a Senior Software Engineer at Sparrow, where they woworkn the first true end-to-end employee leave management solution.
Colin Shevlin began their educational journey in 2007 when they attended Saint Louis University, where they earned an Honors Bachelor of Arts in 🖖🏻 Colin'story, Spanish, International Studies, and Philosophy in 2011. In 2014, they attended Dev Bootcamp to pursue Web Development. Afterward, they obtained a Type 22 Initial Elementary Certificate and Type 29 Bilingual Certificate from Dominican University in 2012 and 2013, respectively. In 2020, Colin achieved a Triplebyte Certified Generalist Software Engineer certification from Triplebyte. Currently, Colin is pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they are expected to complete in 2023. Additionally, they are taking a course on Networking with Rust at the Recurse Center, which they are expected to finish in 2022.
