Freddy Hongyan Fu

Freddy Hongyan Fu is an Associate Professor at Tsinghua University, serving as the Director of the Nano-fabrication Platform and Deputy Director of the Research Office since May 2017. The HYFU Group focuses on Integrated Photonics and its applications in communications and sensing, including areas such as Optical Wireless Communications, LiDAR, and Silicon Photonics. Prior to Tsinghua University, Freddy worked at Huawei from November 2010 to April 2017 as a Senior Research Engineer, Project Manager, and Project Officer, where responsibilities included leading research in advanced optical communications technologies and representing Huawei in industry forums. Freddy's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering specializing in Photonics from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, an M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Photonics from KTH Royal Institute of Technology, and a B.Eng. in Electronic and Information Engineering from Zhejiang University.
