Role: Supervising Producer

Overview:

The Supervising Producer is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all aspects of physical production within an assigned pod. This includes evaluating and planning for incoming project briefs, managing Content Producers, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget. The role serves as a key liaison between content creation and strategy teams, and is instrumental in maintaining quality and consistency aligned with client goals. Proactive problem-solving, financial oversight, and continuous process improvement are also integral components of this multifaceted position.

Responsibilities:

  • Set and enforce quality standards for creative assets (footage, voiceover, GFX, statics, videos) by creating lookbooks, briefs, and approving assets
    • Overseeing all production requests (shoots, voiceover)
    • Overseeing the creation, updating, and organization of shoot briefs and talent briefs
    • Overseeing the end-to-end production process, from concept development to overseeing the final production on set
    • Providing creative reference materials including creative decks, mood boards, etc as needed
    • Approving casting as needed
    • Rapid prototyping/proof of concept shooting
    • Ensure footage adherence to brand guidelines and client-specific notes for all clients in the assigned portfolio.
  • Competitive benchmarking and ensuring creative is kept up to par with industry standards
    • Monitor and analyze the performance of creative, using these insights to identify areas for optimization and improvement in future creative direction
    • Work with the Creative Strategy team to develop and approve new visual approaches
    • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of client performance metrics and targets, and translate these to actionable plans for Physical Production teams.
    • Gain expertise in client targets, key performance indicators, and factors affecting footage performance, and apply this knowledge consistently to future content creation.
    • Engage in research to identify industry trends, including those of competitors and the broader social media ecosystem, for integration into content creation.
  • Build monthly and/or quarterly footage acquisition plans within budget frameworks while emphasizing a diverse footage library (as needed)
    • Regularly audit footage library and analyze needs while resurfacing underused productions to Creative Strategy & editors
  • Directly manage Content Producers within the assigned pod, ensuring timely and quality work output.
    • Oversee the recruitment of Content Producers to augment pod capabilities, ensuring a fit with specific skill requirements.
    • Match Content Producers and creators to projects that align with their expertise, thereby maximizing the quality and efficiency of output.
    • Provide constructive feedback to Content Producers on both footage quality and communication protocols, aiming for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and review budgets and timelines for all production requests related to the assigned client pods.
    • Collaborate with Portfolio Leads/Strategists to maintain oversight of client-specific budgets, ensuring financial responsibility and efficiency.
    • Develop preliminary project budgets, specifying staffing needs and technical requirements, while actively monitoring costs throughout the project life cycle.
    • Guarantee that all project deliverables, including shoots, scripts, and finished jobs, meet established deadlines.
  • Act as the on-set or virtual liaison between content creation and strategy teams during shoots, ensuring quality control and communication flow.
    • Ability and willingness to occasionally step into hands-on roles such as shooting or directing content when needed to ensure project success.
  • Review and approve final footage before submission to the Vault team, ensuring all required assets are complete and meet technical requirements for post production.
  • Conduct regular alignment meetings with the Portfolio Lead, Lead Strategist, and/or Creative Strategists to discuss creative and client priorities for the pod.
    • Conduct regular status check-ins with relevant stakeholders to review project timelines, concerns, and other key considerations.
    • Lead visual/production-focused pod meetings (ideation, planning, retrospective, etc)
      • Be constantly pitching new ideas to strategists and editors 
      • From these meetings, develop new productions
    • Facilitate pre-production and kick-off meetings for greenlit projects within the assigned pod.
    • Lead post-mortem discussions at the conclusion of projects to review outcomes and areas for improvement.
    • Serve as the main conduit between the strategy team and the physical production unit, participating in all relevant strategy meetings.
  • Validate that all studio production data is accurately recorded and that financial record-keeping is complete for each project.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer and production management teams to optimize the Physical Production Process by identifying pain points and implementing workflow improvements.

Required Skills And Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in video production, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Prior experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams, including Content Producers, Production Managers, and content creators.
  • Experience with budget management and financial oversight for production projects.
  • Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, from inception to completion, within tight timelines.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong skills in budget creation, allocation, and oversight, with a focus on cost-efficiency and value optimization.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including the capacity to liaise effectively between creative and strategic teams.
  • Quality Control: Keen eye for detail and a strong sense of quality, ensuring that all deliverables meet high standards and client specifications.
  • People Management: Demonstrated leadership and team management skills, including experience in hiring, training, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify challenges and implement effective solutions, often requiring coordination with senior leadership.
  • Technical Proficiency: Solid understanding of video production techniques, software, and equipment.
  • Strategic Thinking: Capability to align production efforts with broader client and organizational goals.
  • Client Relations: Familiarity with managing client expectations and ensuring deliverables align with client performance metrics and brand guidelines.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency in relevant production and project management software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Project, etc.).

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Film, Media Studies, Communications, Business Management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in not only overseeing but also directly engaging in content shooting and directing is a strong plus.
  • Professional certifications in project management or production are a plus.
  • Prior experience with performance marketing is a plus.

Location: Los Angeles (Hybrid-in office part-time) 

Compensation:

TubeScience provides the wage ranges it reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for all remote roles and as otherwise required by applicable law. The expected range of starting pay for this role is $95,000 – $105,000 annually.  Actual compensation may vary within the listed range based on a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, experience, and specific geographic location.
