Marios Assiotis

CTO at Tubi

Marios Assiotis is the CTO at Tubi. Marios was previously the co-founder at Sidelines from November 2011 to January 2016. At Sidelines, Marios led all product UI/UX, development, deployment and technology stack choices. Marios also implemented a spider that crawls partner publishers' articles and contextually analyzes the content to find suitable placements. For the contextual analysis, they developed an ensemble of classification algorithms, including a very fast version of semi-supervised Naive Bayes that uses regression to allow meaningful multi-label support.

Marios also provided rich analytics, including demographic analysis and business intelligence, by designing and building an analytics pipeline and backend that can support thousands of events per second, data enrichment, failover switching, SQL-like queries and advanced segmentation. In addition, they coded a simple caching layer for sub-100ms response times given any arbitrary query. On the frontend, they developed a very compact Javascript SDK that not only collects advertiser cookie data but also tracks user interactions, active time spent, time idle on page and scroll depth.

For Sidelines' growing base of 1,000+ writers, Marios created a CMS system from scratch, complete with social networking features, custom workflows, an application system, smart gamification, leaderboards and full theme support.

Marios has also implemented all of Tubi's infrastructure and code deployment processes, server & application level monitoring as well as all other DevOps engineering tasks. In addition to owning product and technology, they have also assisted with fundraising, recruiting and general day-to-day operations of a pre-Series A company.

Marios Assiotis has a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Marios Assiotis reports to Farhad Massoudi, Founder & CEO. They are on a team with Carolyn Forrest - General Counsel, Nicole Parlapiano - Chief Marketing Officer, and Adam Lewinson - Chief Content Officer.
