Chris Ortiz y Pino currently serves as the Line Siting Outreach & Engagement Project Manager II at Tucson Electric Power, with previous experience as an Environmental & Land Use Planner III. Prior roles include Environmental Land Use Planner II at Tierra Right of Way Services and Land Use Planner at The WLB Group, Inc. Chris also worked as Personal Staff to Council Member Steve Kozachik in the City of Tucson, advising on various policy matters. Additional experience includes managing the UA Community & School Garden Program, serving as Student Liaison for the Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Planning Association, and interning with the Advisor to the Mayor on Transportation, Sustainability, and Energy in Tucson. Chris’s early career involved leadership as a Peace Corps Volunteer Leader in Nicaragua and community coordination with AmeriCorps VISTA. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Planning from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts and Spanish from The University of New Mexico, complemented by a year of study at the University of Guanajuato.
