Felicia Sam

Director of Infection Control & Patient Safety at Tuerk House

Dr. Felicia Sam is the Director of Infection Control and Patient Safety. She earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice/Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner and her Bachelor of Nursing degrees from the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing here in Baltimore, Maryland. She worked as a critical care nurse clinician in the neuro ICU at Johns Hopkins Hospital in downtown, Baltimore. She later moved on to pursue travel nursing. She has more than seven years of critical care, intermediate care, medical-surgical, progressive care, and home health experience working as a travel nurse while pursuing her doctoral degree.

She is a Cohen scholar and a recipient of the Helen Fuld Leadership Scholarship for the Advancement of Patient Safety and Quality which prepared her with exceptional competencies for promoting quality and safety. Her diverse clinical experience and passion for safety and quality improvement fueled her doctoral project: Improving Compliance with Infection Control Practices: A Quality Improvement Project. She is currently working towards her Certification in Infection Control.

She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association, Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, and the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society of Nursing-Nu Beta Chapter.
