Associate Director, Office Of Prevention, Preparedness And Response at Tulsa Health Department

Kelly VanBuskirk serves as the Associate Director of the Office of Prevention, Preparedness and Response at the Tulsa Health Department since March 2002, directing programs related to epidemiology, bioterrorism preparedness, and chronic disease management. Prior roles include Epidemiologist, where significant responsibilities included conducting investigations of infectious diseases and coordinating surveillance activities, and Health Planner, focused on health surveys and data analysis for the Tulsa County Health Profile. Prior to joining the Tulsa Health Department, Kelly worked as an Assistant Program Coordinator at Healthy Start - University of North Carolina Pembroke. Educational qualifications include a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Walden University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Missouri Valley College.

Tulsa Health Department

Since its establishment in 1950, the Tulsa Health Department serves as the primary public health agency to more than 600,000 Tulsa County residents, including 13 municipalities and four unincorporated areas. The agency is one of two autonomous local health departments in Oklahoma, with statutory public health jurisdiction throughout Tulsa County and the City of Tulsa. THD’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of all Tulsa County residents, in order to make Tulsa County the healthiest county in the country. THD was among the first health departments in the U.S. to receive national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board.
