Martin Githaiga

Martin Githaiga has a diverse work experience spanning various companies and roles. Martin is currently working as the Head of People at Turaco, a fast-growing fin-tech scale-up in Africa that offers subscription-based insurance products. In this role, Martin leverages technology to deliver simplicity and transparency to customers.

Prior to joining Turaco, Martin worked at the Busara Center for Behavioral Economics as a Senior Manager, People Operations. Here, they contributed to the advancement and application of Behavioral Science in solving real-world challenges. Martin also played a key role in mainstreaming Busara's culture and implementing revamped company core values.

Before their time at Busara, Martin held roles at Branch International and Jumia Kenya. At Branch International, they served as the Manager and Lead of People Operations, where they played a crucial role in managing and developing the HR function. At Jumia Kenya, Martin worked as an Associate in the Human Resources department.

Martin's early career includes roles as a Consultant at Corporate Staffing Kenya and Virtual Human Resources Services Ltd. In these positions, they provided HR consultancy services to clients.

Martin Githaiga has a diverse education history. In 2008, they obtained certificates in Business Management from the Kenya Institute of Management. From 2009 to 2013, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Human Resources Management at Moi University. In 2016 and 2017, Martin completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resources Management at the College of Human Resource Management. Currently, they are enrolled in the Strathmore Business School (SBS) and is expected to graduate with a Master of Commerce degree in International Business in 2023.
