Satellite Design Engineer at Turion Space

Rodrigo Leon-Alvarez has worked in various roles in the engineering field since 2008. In 2008, they were an Equipment Courier and Data Manager for the SDSU Research Foundation. In 2011, they were an Intern for Goodrich Aerostructures, where they designed placards and checked for clashing parts on CATIA models. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Mechanical Engineer for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), where they planned and conducted engineering investigations and analyses. From 2017 to 2018, they were a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer for KNUCKLEDRAGGER DESIGN, INC., where they were responsible for Electro-Mechanical Systems Development & Testing. Currently, they are a Satellite Design Engineer for Turion Space, where they are using CAD and rapid prototyping to develop upcoming satellite platforms and advanced mechanisms.

Rodrigo Leon-Alvarez received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering from San Diego State University between 2012 and 2015. Prior to that, they obtained an Associates Degree in Engineering and Mathematics from Cuyamaca Community College between 2009 and 2012.
