Joao Paulo Rio Branco Nabuco de Gouvêa has had a varied career path, beginning with an internship at The Cohen Group in 2011. There, they researched, analyzed, and identified joint-venture opportunities in Latin American countries for clients in the food industry, infrastructure services, mining, and security. Joao Paulo also participated in regular meetings and discussions with the US-Brazil Business Council. In 2012, they took on the role of Government Relations for Rio 2016 - Comitê Organizador dos Jogos Olímpicos e Paralímpicos, where they monitored government policy, established strategic relationships between the Organizing Committee and governmental entities, and developed problem-solving strategies. From 2018 to 2021, they held roles at Mobivate 📱, including Director of Bulk SMS - Latin America and Business Development Account Management. Most recently, they have been the Impact Partnerships Lead, Latin America at Turn.io since 2023, and was previously the Strategic Partnerships Lead, Public Sector & Nonprofit Partnerships - Americas, where they led the onboarding of over 360 governments/NGOs onto WhatsApp's Business API.

Joao Paulo Rio Branco Nabuco de Gouvêa received a Bachelor's degree in International Relations and Affairs from Emory University in 2011. Joao Paulo then received a certificate in French Language and Literature from Université Paris-Sorbonne in 2016. In 2017, they earned a Master's degree in International Public Policy from UCL.
