Gretchen Livesey

Director, Partner Impact at Turnaround for Children

Gretchen Livesey has a diverse work experience in the education field. Gretchen started their career as a teacher at Arroyo High School in 1989 and later became a member of various committees and a founding member of a California Partnership Academy. In 2006, they led the redesign of the Bay Area Digital Arts program at San Lorenzo High School. From 2007 to 2012, Gretchen worked at the San Lorenzo Unified School District, where they coordinated Smaller Learning Communities and oversaw various educational programs, grant writing, and technology initiatives. Following that, they joined the Oakland Unified School District as the Director of Linked Learning, leading the development of college and career pathways for high school students. Since 2017, Gretchen has been working at Turnaround for Children, first as a Partnership Director and later as the Vice President of Partner Impact, translating neuroscientific research into tools for schools to support students impacted by adversity.

Gretchen Livesey began their education at Livermore High School, where they pursued their high school diploma from 1980 to 1984. Following their graduation, Gretchen went on to attend UC Santa Barbara from 1985 to 1989, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English. Later, in 2006, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Educational Leadership at CSU East Bay, which they completed in 2007.
