Joel Kuortti

Joel Kuortti is a Professor of English and Principal Investigator at the University of Turku, where involvement with the Academy of Finland project "Out of the Ordinary: Challenging Commonplace Concepts in Anglophone Literature" occurred from 2014 to 2017. In addition to this role, Joel serves as the Head of School at the University of Jyvaskyla. Previous positions include Lecturer at the University of Vaasa and involvement in the Intercultural Communication and Cultural Studies Masters' Program. Joel has also contributed to a book project in 2009 and worked as a researcher on a Finnish Academy project at the University of Joensuu from 2004 to 2007. Joel's leadership experience includes serving as President of the Tampere University Association of Researchers and Teachers and holding various roles in academic governance and organization. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy in English from the University of Tampere and multiple degrees in English philology from the same institution.
