Head of Cybersecurity & Privacy at Tutatahi First Fibre

Jon Edney's work experience begins in 1999 when they worked as a Software Developer at Essex County Council. Jon then moved on to BT Global Services in 2002, where they held the role of Software Developer until 2003. Following this, Jon joined Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer as a Software Developer for a year before joining pulsejobs.com in 2004 as a Senior Software Developer.

In 2006, Jon started working at Bay of Plenty Regional Council, where they held multiple roles over the span of 12 years. Jon started as a Software Developer and then transitioned to the role of Development Team Leader in 2007. In 2013, they became the ICT Operations Team Leader and later the Security & Infrastructure Team Leader in 2017.

In 2018, Jon joined Bay Of Plenty District Health Board as a Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer until 2019. Jon then took on the position of Head of Cybersecurity & Privacy at Tuatahi First Fibre in 2019, where they currently work.

Jon Edney attended Anglia Ruskin University from 1999 to 2002, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Software Development.

In addition to their degree, they hold several certifications in various fields. Jon obtained the Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) certification from IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in October 2020. In May 2019, they obtained the Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) certification from Palo Alto Networks. Jon also holds the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)², which they obtained in October 2018.

Jon Edney obtained the Certified Ethical Hacker certification from EC-Council in March 2017. In July 2010, they earned the ITIL v3 Foundation Certificate from EXIN and the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (Windows 7) certification from Microsoft. Jon also obtained the NZIM Certificate in Management from the New Zealand Institute of Management Inc. in January 2010.

Furthermore, they hold the Coordinated Incident Management System (CIMS) Level 4 certification from Emergency Management Bay of Plenty, which they obtained in July 2008.

Jon Edney holds the Microsoft Certified Professional (Windows XP) certification from Microsoft, which they obtained in October 2004. Jon also obtained the Cisco Certified Network Associate certification from Cisco in August 2004.

Lastly, they hold a Private Pilots License (NZ) from the Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand, which they obtained in December 2006.
