Tor Hovland

Tor Hovland has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. They started as a developer at Papirfly in 1998, where they worked part-time while studying. They developed industrial software using C++ based on OPC. In 1998, they also worked as a developer at Comsol, where they developed an intranet calendar application using Active Server Pages and SQL Server.

In 2001, Tor Hovland joined Proxycom as a consultant, where they provided development consulting on Microsoft .NET. They were involved in designing, developing, and deploying a trusted third-party service for the Norwegian Prescription Database.

From 2004 to 2010, Tor Hovland worked at Powel AS as a developer and Scrum Master. They created energy software products using .NET and were responsible for the software development process from 2008.

In 2010, Tor Hovland held multiple roles at different companies. They co-founded Programmator and provided programming services on the Microsoft .NET platform for companies in Trondheim. They also worked as an IT Contractor at Vital Forsikring ASA, participating in the development of pension software built on a service-oriented architecture using WCF and SQL Server.

In the same year, Tor Hovland worked as a .NET Consultant at Felleskjøpet Agri, where they advised on business logic encapsulation using WCF Services and implemented a reference application using Entity Framework and SharePoint Business Connectivity Services.

From 2014 to 2018, Tor Hovland returned to Powel AS and held various roles, including Chief Architect, Mobility and Cloud Software Engineer, and Metering Portfolio & Innovation Manager/MDMS Business Manager.

In 2018, Tor Hovland joined Bekk Consulting AS as a Software Developer, where they worked until 2022.

Currently, Tor Hovland is working as a Rust Developer at Tweag since June 2022.

Tor Hovland's education history is as follows:

From 1999 to 2001, Tor Hovland attended Maynooth University and obtained an M.Sc. degree in Quantum computing.

Prior to that, from 1995 to 1999, they studied at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and obtained a Siv.ing. degree in Theoretical physics.

From 1991 to 1994, Tor Hovland attended Førde Gymnas, but no degree or field of study information is provided for this period.

In addition to their academic education, Tor Hovland has obtained two certifications. In April 2004, they became a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer for .NET, and in May 2015, they completed a course on "How to Build a Startup" offered by Udacity.
