Carl Curnutte possesses extensive experience in leadership and management within the nonprofit and real estate sectors. Currently serving in Owners Service at Twiddy & Company Realtors since March 2022, Carl previously held the position of Executive Director at The Elizabethan Gardens from August 2010 to April 2022. In this role, Carl managed a staff of 14 and coordinated over 130 volunteers, while overseeing various activities and partnerships within a historic ten-acre garden. Responsibilities included fiscal development, event management, and community engagement, effectively addressing a $200,000 annual funding shortfall. Additionally, Carl served as Chairman for the Outer Banks Seafood Festival, leading efforts to attract significant visitor participation. Prior to these roles, Carl was the Executive Director at The Lost Colony from August 2004 to August 2010. Carl holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication and Media Studies from Morehead State University, earned between 1987 and 1992.
