Nalat Black has worked in various roles in the fields of sustainability, education, and communications since 2006. In 2022, they began working as a Content Creator for Twin Science & Robotics in London, UK, creating educational videos about ecosystem services and how youths can contribute to developing healthy ecosystems. From 2014 to present, Nalat has held various roles with the United Nations Association of Atlanta Chapter, including VP of Education, Sustainable Development Goals Director, President, and Vice President of Communications. In 2014, Nalat was a United Nations Association of USA Blogger Fellow for the 2014 Social Good Summit, capturing stories and writing inspirational pieces to inform the public on technology and social good, United Nations activities, and solutions to some of humanity's issues. In 2013, Nalat was a Research Assistant for the Pinchot Institute for Conservation, assisting in the development of a comprehensive report on adapting to climate change. From 2011 to 2012, Nalat was an Administrator for Project for Nuclear Awareness, coordinating with media organizations, speakers, awardees, volunteers, donors, vendors, and Board of Directors. In 2010, Nalat worked as an Administrative Associate for Reis Cooper, LLP, representing various large lending institutions during real estate transactions. In 2008, Nalat was a Membership Communications Assistant for the United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia, contributing written pieces and designing and editing the organization's monthly newsletters. Lastly, from 2006 to 2010, Nalat was a Producer for SuperNova Productions Inc., managing promotional and educational pharmaceutical projects.
Nalat Black attended the University of Pennsylvania from 2008 to 2009 and obtained a Master of Environmental Studies in Advocacy and Outreach. From 2002 to 2006, they attended Baruch College and obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration (B.B.A.) in Marketing. Additionally, they attended Macaulay Honors College at The City University of New York from 2002 to 2006 and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Humanities. Nalat Black has also obtained several certifications from the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), including a GRI Certificate of Completion: Integrating the SDGs into Sustainability Reporting in July 2022, a GRI Certificate of Completion: Reporting on Human Rights with GRI Standards 2021 Update in March 2022, a GRI Certified Sustainability Professional in December 2022, a GRI Certificate of Completion: Introduction to Sustainability Reporting and the GRI Standards 2021 Update, and a GRI Certificate of Completion: Reporting with the GRI Standards 2021 Update.
