Tom Z. Yuan, PhD

Tom Z. Yuan, PhD, is a highly experienced professional in the field of antibody discovery and engineering, currently serving as Senior Business Development Manager and Senior Staff Scientist at Twist Bioscience since August 2018. As a founding member of Twist Biopharma, Tom has played a pivotal role in developing semi and fully synthetic CDR shuffled antibody libraries, utilizing high-throughput robotics and NGS enrichment tracking to identify specific candidates. Prior experience includes positions at Surrozen, where Tom led the discovery and characterization of antibody candidates for therapeutic drug development, and Agensys, Inc., where antibody identification for ADC and immuno-oncology applications was achieved through advanced phage-display methodologies. Tom’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from UC Irvine and a B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Davis.
