Tong Liu

Tong Liu is a Senior Scientist at Twist Bioscience since April 2021, focusing on the design and development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) products and post-launch performance activities. Prior experience includes roles as a Scientist and Scientist I at Illumina, where expertise involved human microbiome research, NGS technology development, infectious disease detection, and CRISPR genome editing. Tong also served as a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Berkeley, investigating microbial populations relevant to environmental remediation, and as a Research Scientist at Rutgers University, studying anaerobic microbial communities. Additionally, Tong has experience as a Teaching Assistant in microbiology and was a Visiting Scientist at the University of Sheffield. Tong holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering Technology from South China University of Technology.
