Richard Leider

Richard Leider has over 25 years of work experience in the technology industry. Richard is currently working at Twitch as the Director of Engineering, a role they started in 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Snap Inc. from 2019 to 2022, where they held the positions of Director of Engineering and Senior Software Engineering Manager.

Before joining Snap Inc., Richard worked at Google for over 12 years. Their roles at Google included Software Engineering Manager for YouTube Player Infrastructure and Staff Web Developer. During their time at Google, they were responsible for various projects related to video playback and player development, including the launch of new features and codecs, as well as implementing adaptive bitrate technologies.

Prior to their tenure at Google, Richard worked at Adobe Systems as a Senior Flash Developer, Senior Developer, and Senior Multimedia Engineer. Richard also had earlier experiences at Excite@Home, Ninth House Network, Scientific Learning Corporation, Fair, Isaac Corporation, Media Projects, and Northwestern University Academic Computing and Network Services.

Throughout their career, Richard has had extensive experience in software engineering, management, and multimedia development.

Richard Leider attended Lewis & Clark College from 1984 to 1988, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication. Richard then pursued further education at Northwestern University from 1991 to 1996, where they obtained a Master of Fine Arts degree in Radio/TV/Film.
