Karen Stangl

Director Of Quality Assurance at Two Roads Brewing Company

Karen Stangl has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Karen is currently the Director of Quality Assurance at Two Roads Brewing Company, where they oversee quality programs in two facilities and guides new product development initiatives. Prior to this, they worked at Southern Tier Brewing Company as a Quality Manager, leading a team of five to collect reliable data and optimize processes for production and return on investment. Karen also served as a Lead Quality Technician, involved in developing the Quality Management System for a large production facility.

Earlier in their career, Karen worked as a Laboratory Technician and SIT/RS at Mahoning County District Board of Health. Karen also gained international experience as a Group Study Exchange Team Member at Rotary International, where they studied public health and clinical science in India.

In addition, Karen has experience as a Curriculum Specialist at the Center for Urban and Regional Studies, where they developed hands-on science learning curricula. Karen has also worked as a Proteomics/Genomics Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Youngstown State University, conducting research and providing laboratory instruction.

Earlier in their career, Karen served as a Resident Advisor at Wells College, overseeing the health and safety of campus residents, and they participated in the National Science Foundation Undergraduate Research program at Youngstown State University.

Karen began their career as a Chemical Production Technician at Riverside Chemical Company Inc.

Karen Stangl holds a Master's Degree in Molecular Biology from Youngstown State University. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from Wells College. Additionally, they hold an A.A.S. degree in Science Laboratory Technology from Niagara County Community College, as well as an A.S. degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/ Math and Science and an A.A. degree in Liberal Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, both from Niagara County Community College.

In terms of additional certifications, Karen obtained HACCP Training from Frostline Consulting LLC in February 2022. Karen also holds the Certified Beer Server certification from Cicierone, obtained in April 2016. Furthermore, they received training in the use of Clarus GCMS with Turbomatirx Headspace Autosampler from PERKIN ELMER CORP in May 2015. In October 2010, they completed training in Indoor Air Quality- Phase Contrast Microscopy from McCrone Research Institute. Lastly, they are recognized as a TTB Certified Chemist by the US Treasury Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, which they achieved in July 2016 while working at Southern Tier Brewing Co.
