Thomas Sunn Pedersen

Thomas Sunn Pedersen serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Type One Energy Group since January 2023. Alongside this role, Thomas is a Professor of Physics at Universität Greifswald and an Adjunct Professor of Applied Physics at Columbia University, positions held since October 2012 and August 2011 respectively. Prior to these roles, Thomas was the Director of Stellarator Edge and Divertor Physics at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics from June 2011 to January 2023 and an Associate Professor at Columbia University from July 2005 to May 2011. Early in the career, Thomas worked as a research assistant at JET from 1993 to 1994. Thomas holds a Ph.D. in Plasma Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, earned between 1996 and 2000, and a Master of Science in Applied Physics Engineering from the DTU - Technical University of Denmark, completed from 1990 to 1995. The educational journey began with a Studentereksamen from Roskilde Katedralskole, achieved between 1986 and 1989.
