Stephanie Coffey

Principal Statistician, Demographic Research, Center For Economic Studies at U.S. Census Bureau

Stephanie Coffey has a diverse work experience starting from 2009. From 2009 to 2010, they worked as a Graduate Intern at the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. In 2010, they joined the U.S. Census Bureau as a Mathematical Statistician, working on Housing Surveys until 2012. Stephanie then transitioned to the role of Mathematical Statistician for the National Survey of College Graduates until 2014, and subsequently became a Team Lead for Research and Methodology in the Center for Adaptive Design until 2016. From 2016 to 2021, Stephanie worked as a Lead Scientist in the Research and Methodology department, focusing on optimization and data science. Most recently, in August 2021, they became the Principal Statistician for Demographic Research in the Center for Economic Studies at the U.S. Census Bureau. Additionally, Stephanie held the position of Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Maryland from 2018 to 2020.

Stephanie Coffey holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Survey Methodology from the University of Maryland. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Hunter College. Stephanie also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Materials Engineering from Virginia Tech.
