Dan Tillema

Dan Tillema is a Senior Chemical Incident Investigator at the United States Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board (CSB) since July 2009, focusing on improving chemical safety and health practices through independent investigations, data analysis, and safety recommendations. Investigations led by Dan have included notable chemical incidents at locations such as AB Specialty Silicones, Arkema, and Deepwater Horizon. Prior to CSB, Dan held various engineering roles at LyondellBasell and Lyondell Chemical Company, where responsibilities ranged from developing process design packages for hazardous materials to overseeing process safety coordinators. Dan began a career in chemical engineering as a Production Engineer at Olin Corporation and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1990.
