Kara Burns

Kara Burns is an experienced professional in the U.S. Coast Guard, currently serving as Deputy Program Manager, FMS Coordinator, and System Manager in the Office of Naval Engineering since August 2017, focusing on Polar System Management and Inservice Vessel Sustainment. Prior experience includes roles as Chief Engineer for USCGC POLAR STAR from May 2014 to June 2017 and various engineering positions from June 2003 to August 2008. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Washington, a Master of Business Administration in Project Management from City University of Seattle, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
