Curtis Smith is an experienced legal professional with a diverse background in military and civilian law. Currently serving in the US Army Reserves as Team Chief, Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, and Senior Defense Counsel since September 2017, and as Senior Attorney at U.S. Customs and Border Protection since July 2017, Curtis has a strong foundation in criminal defense and military justice. Previous roles include Defense Counsel in the US Army, where representation spanned serious felony cases, and Battalion Judge Advocate, providing legal counsel on operational law and military justice matters. With earlier experiences as a Law Clerk at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and internship roles in various legal settings, including the Pima County Attorney's Office and Arizona Legislative Council, Curtis has developed a comprehensive legal skill set. Curtis holds a JD from the University of Arizona and a BA in Criminal Justice/Pre-Law from Michigan State University.
