James Bishop has extensive experience in strategic communications and public involvement, currently managing communications for the USDA's Center for Environmental and Animal Health since February 2020. Previously, James served as a Public Involvement Specialist with the Bureau of Reclamation, and as an Outreach Coordinator for Indiana University Sexual Assault Crisis Services, where outreach initiatives were developed for diverse audiences. James also has a strong academic background, having worked as an Associate Instructor and Ph.D. candidate at Indiana University Bloomington, focusing on research and professional communication strategies. Earlier roles include teaching literature and composition at the US Air Force Academy and administrative leadership within the United States Air Force. James holds a Master of Arts in English Language and Literature from Indiana University Bloomington and a Bachelor of Science in Physics from Louisiana State University.
