John Tigmo Jr

John Tigmo Jr currently serves as the Deputy Director of the Office of Security at the U.S. Department of Commerce, a position held since April 2012. In this role, John develops and implements comprehensive security programs to safeguard over 47,000 personnel and more than 700 facilities, including classified locations and sensitive information. John oversees security operations across 12 bureaus of the Department of Commerce, both domestically and internationally. Prior to joining the Department of Commerce, John held various supervisory roles at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service from September 1989 to April 2012, including serving as the Personal Security Advisor to Admiral Mike Mullen during their tenure as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for which John received the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joint Distinguished Civilian Service Award in 2011. John's academic credentials include a Master's degree in Forensic Science and Technology from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from Old Dominion University.
