Joy Lampley-Fortson

Assistant Chief Immigration Judge at Department of Justice

Joy Lampley-Fortson currently serves as Assistant Chief Immigration Judge at the U.S. Department of Justice since February 2019. Prior to this role, Joy was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal to lead the Georgia Commission on Equal Opportunity as Executive Director and Administrator from April 2017 to February 2019, where responsibilities included enforcing the Georgia Fair Employment Practices Act and the Georgia Fair Housing Law. Previous experience includes positions as Assistant Chief Counsel at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorneys' Offices. Joy began a legal career as an Assistant City Solicitor for the City of Atlanta. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctorate from the University of Florida - Fredric G. Levin College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations/Journalism from the University of Florida.
